FHS Environmental Awareness Club & Visual Art Department Collaboration Wins Award!

Congratulations to the Framingham High School Environmental Awareness Club and Visual Art Department for winning silver in the 2024 Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest for their multimedia project A Few Degrees More! This is a huge accomplishment, placing 2nd in the interactive/multimedia category out of 5,200 entries from around the world. An additional congratulations to FHS faculty Katie Lee Mansfield, Rebecca Maynard, and Emily Rathmell who won this year’s Bay State Education Innovation Award. We are so proud of you all!

Check out the article written about the project!

Shark Tank at Harmony Grove

Our 5th-grade HG students were hopeful entrepreneurs who believed they had big business ideas. They entered the shark tank seeking financial backing to make their dreams come true. Fifth graders at Harmony Grove participated in a "Shark Tank" event to promote inquiry, academic skills, and collaboration.

FHS Career Development Program Partners with McGovern Automotive for Hands-On Learning

The Career Development Program (CDP) at Framingham High School continues to empower students with work-based learning opportunities that build career readiness. One standout initiative this year was a six-week automotive workshop in partnership with McGovern Automotive. Through this collaboration, students gained hands-on experience performing essential automotive tasks, such as tire rotations, oil changes, and radar system calibration, all under the guidance of skilled technician Keith Paiva. McGovern Automotive also hosted a field trip to their facility, in partnership with MassBay Community College’s Automotive Technology Program, where students explored career pathways, interacted with industry professionals, and learned about training and certification opportunities.

The program received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with many students expressing a newfound interest in automotive technology as a career. Partnerships like this demonstrate the incredible value of combining classroom learning with real-world experiences, inspiring students to explore potential career paths while building practical skills. A heartfelt thank-you goes to McGovern Automotive and all those who made this program a success, including Keith Paiva, Kenneth Webster, Joanna Hanlon, and David Vantre. The CDP remains dedicated to fostering opportunities that connect students with industries, preparing them for bright and successful futures.
